Franklin Park Land Use Plan

Participate in the Toledo 20/20 Land Use Plan for the Franklin Park Neighborhood. Neighborhood input is needed to help in updating the Land Use Plan for the City of Toledo. The Franklin Park Neighborhood is bounded by the Michigan state line, Secor Road, Central Avenue, and Sylvania Township.

A group of neighbors in Toledo's Vistula Historic District are seeking to vote their precinct "dry" - a move aimed at two carryouts they say are magnets for crime and problems.

"We're tired of this," said Lonnie Homan, leader of the area Block Watch, gesturing to one of the carryouts in question.

Unspent capital improvements money to balance city budget

In addition to ordering three layoffs and shuffling seven employees into new positions yesterday, the Finkbeiner administration said it wants to use unspent 2008 capital improvement money to help balance the potential $7 million sinkhole in Toledo's general operating budget.

CINCINNATI - Officials want to see more green roofs on building tops in Cincinnati.

The City Council on Wednesday became the first in Ohio with a plan to channel grants and loans to residents and businesses to replace tar and shingles with vegetation.

In an attempt to bolster the controversial new entertainment venue created with taxpayer money at the city-owned Erie Street Market near downtown Toledo, the Finkbeiner administration unsuccessfully sought to attract promoters to book shows at the building.

Lamar gets tax break for downtown move

Lamar Advertising Co. will move its regional sales and marketing office back to downtown Toledo after eight years on Matzinger Road, Mayor Carty Finkbeiner announced yesterday.

The company plans to move 21 employees to 116 South Erie St. and it will spend slightly more than $2 million to purchase and renovate the vacant building.

Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, one building was being torn down on 11th near Avondale and Moorish and fell into another building.

Custom Deco isn't moving, Toledo mayor says

Boelter considered moving Custom Deco and its 200 jobs from its location at 1343 Miami St. to Wisconsin, Mr. Finkbeiner said. The city's department of development assisted Custom Deco in packaging $1.75 million in acquisition financing, the mayor said.

TOLEDO (WTOL) - The financial spreadsheet remains in the red for the city of Toledo and the mayor says he'll soon roll out his plan on how to balance the city's books.

"We know about increased costs, where the increased costs have come have come... fuel consumption, overtime and things like that," Finkbeiner says.

Finkbeiner Doesn't Understand First Amendment

That can be the only explanation for his incredibly arrogant behavior last Friday when taking a tour of the United Way building downtown. The tour which has been taken by numerous politicians has always been open to media also. The mayor however under the guise of having an "honest discussion" about the building with the architect had his spokesperson ask the press to not go on the tour.
