GOP Calls New Program "Democrat Registration"

What do you think?

"Republicans support the idea of encouraging every Ohioan who is eligible to vote to get involved in the process," DeWine added. "But let's really take a look at this for what it is. Brunner's selection of counties gives a two-to-one voter registration advantage to the Democrats."

"If she is truly interested in this program being perceived as non-partisan, Brunner needs to immediately balance the program or expand it to include counties that create parity among the total number of Republican and Democrat registrations. I'll be happy to provide her with an appropriate list. And if funding is a problem and we have to pay the additional $1,500 to do it, I'll get her a check today."

They're going to work it for their benefit and play it off as a way to get more people involved in the electoral process.

It's similar to the 2000 Florida recount. It was funny how the Democrats wanted to have only the very heavily Democratic counties in South Florida to be recounted. Hmmmmm.....I wonder why! Anything from Tampa and Orlando to the Georgia state line was off limits for the recounts since that's overwhelmingly Republican territory.

"We want your votes counted!" And then in the small print..... "But only if you're not in the military and don't live in a traditionally republican county."

"When asked about the disparity, Brunner played dumb..."

Dumb as in dumb like a fox?

Surely any thinking adult can see this for what it really is, pure partisan politics.

Yo gotta admire their willingness to utter stupid comments to justify their political shenanigans; I for one though, prefer to point them out and look at them in the clear light of day, for what they are, and call them on it.

Although they seem to be beyond personal embarrassment, constant pressure on their partisan scheming is always a good thing, IMO.

;-)

I believe they wanted the whole state of Florida to be recounted, but were denied. I wonder why?!?

If I recall correctly the Gore lawsuit was to allow counting in just specific counties but the State of Florida wouldn't allow it. The Supreme Court wouldn't overrule the State of FL. After that the recount was given up.

But really this is all sidetalk. The fact is all the states that were in dispute should have had their electoral votes thrown out. The result meant no one got a majority of the electoral college votes and the U.S. House of Representatives would have chosen the President.

However since the House was Republican then it's unlikely they would have chosen anyone other than Bush.

You need to go back and check the facts. Gore wanted 4 counties to be recounted: Volusia, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach. None others. His campaign didn't care if votes were counted in the panhandle since that would overwhelmingly have helped Bush. (Of course they also managed to get thousands of military ballots thrown out too).

SCOTUS ruled that those four counties couldn't have different standards for votes when compared to the rest of the state's counties because of the Equal Protection Clause. A statewide recount using the same standards would have been perfectly fine, but that's not what was being asked for.

My bad. It was the Florida Supreme Court that ordered a full statewide recount by hand of all undervotes not yet tallied.
