Southwyck razing still planned, but Dillin no longer go-between

Owners of the Southwyck Shopping Center in South Toledo and Finkbeiner administration officials are proceeding with plans to raze the vacant mall, but Perrysburg developer Larry Dillin will no longer be the go-between for the parties, after many months in that role.

Robert Reinbolt, chief of staff for Mayor Carty Finkbeiner, said the city is trying to expedite the project, which ultimately calls for redeveloping the property into a mix of residential and commercial buildings.

"I would not agree that Larry is out of it," Mr. Reinbolt said.

"The owners are talking about potentially contracting with a local site manager. I would say Larry would still be interested in developing the site once it's down."

With the nation's financial markets in turmoil and credit markets seized up, Mr. Reinbolt acknowledged that it's reasonable to question whether the project is still feasible.
