I ask this question because back on 6/17 I asked TPS for a quote/plan for Scott High School. The answer I got is they would prepare something, I have yet to see something.
When I asked TPS business manager Ron Victor if they had a quote, he said they had one based on OFSC requirements. But how do they know how much it will really cost if they don't have a specific plan and have quotes put out based on it? Yes, the OFSC does have a specific set of standards, but how do they know/not know how much it will cost if there was not a study/preliminary plan done? If there is one, I have yet to see it even after my initial 6/17 request.
TPS continually says it is for technology, but this is the least concern. Technology can be retrofitted in old buildings quite easily. Universities do it all the time.
The School of Information at the University of Michigan is housed in a building built in 1904.

They finished a re-modelling in 2000 for 11 million dollars.

Between 1990 and 2000, TPS spent some $6 million in upgrades at Scott, including a new roof, field house and gym floors, and boiler. It would be senseless for the state to require entirely new construction if there are still many years of life left in these improvements.

If it has a new boiler, that would take care of a lot, so what actually needs to be done? Of course if they want AC, then it will cost a bunch. At the School of Education, where I work, they were quoted 400k to cool one several hundred seat auditorium.
No one knows because there appears to be no plan. I am still waiting for TPS to answer my public information request.
We would like to see the actual numbers and plan so we can see the evidence. Let's hope they release them.
Of course it is good to know TPS wants to know about local banking practices while all of these minor issues still simmer and while citizens beg to be involved.
What do you think? Remodel or rebuild?
