The Columbus Dispatch has a nice article on the presidential vote in the Toledo/Northwest Ohio area.

Article titled: Toledo-area presidential vote closely tied to jobs

Something of note:

As a result, the economic debate dominating the presidential race is playing out in microcosm in the Toledo media market, a matter of national consequence because: As Ohio goes, so goes the nation. And as northwestern Ohio goes, so goes Ohio.

There is no better barometer for the statewide vote than northwestern Ohio. It not only picks the Ohio winners -- 11 for 11 since 1964 -- but it does so with uncanny accuracy. In those elections, the difference between the statewide and regional presidential results was less than 0.5 percentage point. In 2004, the Toledo region deviated from President Bush's 2.1-percentage-point victory by just 0.08 percent.
